During the weekend, hundreds of people in more than 20 cities took to the streets to express their sadness and anger about the Fortress Europe Policy. Actions also took place in the Netherlands. Together we protested against the deadly sealing off borders policy that has caused over 100 deaths in the last week alone. Although European and Libyan authorities knew about a sea emergency, no rescue was initiated - They let them drown!
We stand up against this policy of letting people die and demand: Stop the dying at the external borders! There needs to be a decriminalization of civilian sea rescue, state-organized sea rescue and an end to the cooperation with the so-called Libyan coast guard!
