17. February 2020 Rescue at sea is a duty!

In the last few days, many people have fled in boats across the central Mediterranean – and no civilian rescue ship was there to rescue them from distress at sea.

Although the authorities have been informed of the emergencies, it takes forever for a rescue to be initiated – in one case on Thursday it took 18 hours for the rescue to take place, another boat with 70 people was at sea for over 30 hours before it was rescued.
Today Alarm Phone reports again about 40 people in distress in the Maltese search and rescue zone, fleeing the war in Libya. The authorities have been informed and we hope that the rescue will happen much faster!

These political games must stop. It is about saving human lives, RESCUE AT SEA IS A DUTY!
