17. January 2020 Finally! Open Arms and SW3 were assigned a Safe Harbour!

Both the Sea-Watch 3 and the Open Arms were assigned a port of safety yesterday.
The Italian cities of Taranto and Messina, unlike Tripoli or Tunis, are ports of safety because they provide a necessary asylum procedure for those seeking protection in Europe.
The Sea-Watch 3 was able to rescue a total of 119 people in three rescues within 24 hours on 8th and 9th January, the Open Arms rescued a total of 118 people from two distresses at sea.
We are glad that the ships were assigned a port of safety within a short time and hope that this will happen quickly in the future, too. We need fair and predictable regulations.
