28. June 2020 Blockade ended, Aita Mari and Alan Krude are free

FINALLY! Yesterday the blockade of the Italian authorities was ended and the ALAN KURDI and the AITA MARI could finally leave the port of Palermo for Spain.
Since May 5th the Italian coast guard had detained the ALAN KURDI and the AITA MARI in the port of Palermo. The reason: “serious safety deficiencies”. However, on May 7th, the German Ministry of Transport already stated in the case of the ALAN KURDI: “From the point of view of the German flag state administration, the irregularities detected by the Italian authorities do not concern serious safety deficiencies”. Now both ships are free again and on their way to Spain.
Sea-Eye is now evaluating, in cooperation with the German authorities, the circumstances under which the vessel can sail to its next mission without being blocked by the Italian authorities.
The blockade of rescue ships must stop!
