27. December 2019 Alan Kurdi rescues 32 people

The rescue ship Alan Kurdi of the organization Sea-Eye rescued 32 people from distress at sea tonight. Despite the winter weather, people in need keep trying to cross over to Europe, no matter how hopeless it may seem. Whether they are rescued or disappear forever depends on whether civilian rescue ships are on location. We thank the crew of the Alan Kurdi for their tireless efforts – also over the holidays.

For us it is clear: the ship needs a Safe Harbour before New Year’s Eve – as soon as possible!

Germany should now declare its immediate readiness to receive the ship, as more than 130 communities and cities are ready to help. Photo: Pa/dpa/Pavel D.Vitko/Sea Eye
